Yes, even this group of tortoises at the San Francisco zoo were taught with positive reinforcement training to touch and follow a target, a behaviour we commonly teach to dogs.

Shannon and Sylvia participated in a demo at the San Francisco zoo. They learned that the giraffes are taught with positive reinforcement to lift their feet on cue as well several other behaviour to make everyday handling easy for the zoo keepers.

Sylvia and Shannon each took a chicken training workshop to sharpen their training skills. They taught their chickens to peck a certain colour chip, and to avoid another colour. This is called discrimination training and can be applied to other animals.
